Join GRIMM for a walkthrough with artist Matthias Franz on the occasion of his exhibition 'claim no easy victories'.

The exhibition presents new paintings by Leipzig-based artist Matthias Franz. Inspired variously by literature and cinema, Franz uses paint and canvas as tools to visualise and reconfigure the fictional boundaries of the world. For Franz, painting is a necessarily slow and relational process, where the configuration of architectural spaces and uncanny figures shed light on our proximity to the unheimlich. These new paintings by Franz revisit some of his previous motifs while incorporating new subjects, drawn from several literary sources.
