Public Gallery is pleased to present ‘Duppy Water’, a solo exhibition of new works by London-based artist Tiffany Wellington. Interlacing painting, photography, performance, sound, and sculpture their work focuses on themes of false narratives, true identities, and opacity. For this exhibition, Wellington presents a large-scale installation across two floors of the gallery concentrating on a Sulphur-rich mineral spring in St Ann Bay, Jamaica. The project follows the story of a child named Mehala Smith, where 80 years ago she discovered the waters when she accidentally dropped a torch in the pool and ran home screaming “duppies r in da water”....
