South Parade is pleased to present Judith Dean’s (b. 1965, UK) second solo exhibition at the gallery, presenting a selection of new and recent paintings. Questioning the way we look at images, Dean explores perspective, orientation, framing, and authorship. Works are developed from multiple images found in the public domain on Wikimedia Commons to form compositions of empty spaces, shifting horizons, receding platforms, stages and galleries. Separated rooms emerge from blind alleys and dead ends. Walls, floors and ceilings appear to stretch out, fortified, before collapsing away again.
