Known for his innovative use of colour, texture, and found materials, Anselm Reyle challenges conventional boundaries in painting and sculpture. His works reflect a deep engagement with the history of abstraction and pop art, while embracing industrial techniques and materials. By reimagining elements of modernism through a postmodern lens, Reyle creates immersive artworks that are both conceptual and visually impactful.
At the heart of this exhibition is the debut of Reyle’s Chrome Brushstroke Paintings—a series that transforms gestural marks into sculptural, chrome-plated forms mounted directly onto the canvas. These works embody Reyle’s signature process of “re-deconstruction”, where familiar visual elements are deconstructed and reassembled using unconventional methods.
“For quite some time, I have been working with texture pastes that mimic the thick application of oil paint. This led me to the idea of having brushstrokes chrome-plated and integrating them into the painting.”

In this new body of work, Reyle returns to a more spontaneous and tactile painting approach, placing greater emphasis on the expressive gesture while maintaining the polished finish for which he is known. His combination of vivid colour, mirrored surfaces, and industrial aesthetics invites viewers to reconsider the relationship between contemporary art, consumer culture, and materiality.
