Julie Curtiss: Monads and Dyads14 May - 26 June 2021Julie Curtiss’ (b. 1982, Paris) first solo exhibition in London features new paintings, sculpture and works on paper. Known for her surrealist re-workings of archetypes of femininity, in this new body of work the artist expands from the intimate and subjective to broader themes of the individual and society. Drawing inspiration from a diverse history of figuration including 18th and 19th century French painting, Chicago Imagists as well as comic books, manga and illustration, Curtiss represents contemporary everyday life through cinematic, dreamlike compositions with direct and deadpan humour.
