Canopy Collections are delighted to announce Venice As I Was, an exhibition of photography by Isabelle Young, and the artist’s first solo show with the gallery.
Isabelle Young (b. 1989) is a contemporary British photographer whose work explores the intersections of space, memory and absence. Her practice focuses on architectural interiors, still lives and quiet moments, capturing the traces of human presence while revealing the latent narratives of place. Young’s photographs are distinguished by their careful composition, subtle use of light and colour, and an acute attention to the textures and atmospheres of her subjects. Her work negotiates the space between documentary observation and poetic abstraction, transforming familiar settings into evocative environments that invite reflection and contemplation. By privileging nuance, restraint, and the unspoken over the overt, Young’s images highlight the emotional resonance of the everyday, rendering space itself as a carrier of memory and story.
Isabelle Young graduated with an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art, London in 2022. She has exhibited with Galerie Fabien Lang, London and Zurich; Cedric Bardawil Gallery, London; and Barbati Gallery, Venice. Her work is held in notable collections including the Credit Suisse Collection, Museo Casa Mollino, and private collections in Europe and the UK.
