Every single person I love

General Assembly presents Every single person I love by the argentinean artist Benito Ekmekdjian. The exhibition contains paintings and installative works that serve as personal reflections regarding specific relationships the artists had with lovers, past lives, family, tradition and himself.

From stories with fortune tellers to a theatrical reimagination of a clumsy ballad by a post-hardcore American band, Benito creates an ambience of uncomfortability and beauty. The imagery referenced was taken from myths, films about classical music and photography taken by the artist.

During the making of the show, Benito revisited past partnerships in different forms. He interviewed his past tutor, Laura Quesada, who had him as a protege in Buenos Aires for several years, went back to his hometown in order to converse with strained relationships from the past (from friendships to lovers) and reimagined his Armenian side through research with his grandfather's photography archive.
