Sprüth Magers

Monika Sprüth opened her gallery in 1983, Philomene Magers made her start in 1991; both located in Cologne at that time. Their shared enthusiasm for working with diverse artistic positions in the areas of Conceptual Art, Minimalism, feminism, and photography led to the two galleries merging in 1998. A second gallery space in Munich soon followed, and in 2003 Sprüth Magers opened their gallery in London Mayfair. Since moving from Cologne and Munich to Berlin in 2008, the gallery occupies extensive premises in direct vicinity of Museum Island. The gallery launched its LA space in February 2016, which is located on Museum Row opposite LACMA, followed by their NY location in 2022. Today, Sprüth Magers works with over 70 artists and estates.
