    TAFETA is thrilled to announce the gallery's participation in the inaugural edition of London Gallery Weekend. On from 4 -6 June 2021, TAFETA will showcase six emerging artists from the African continent, and its Diaspora: Asiko, Bunmi Agusto, Niyi Olagunju, Babajide Olatunji, Marielle Plaisir and Amber Robles-Gordon. Nigerian artists Olagunju and Olatunji draw inspiration from artistic lineages rooted in traditional African art and present contemporary output in sculptural and painterly form respectively. Similar in their inspiration, Asiko's colourful photographs reference historic performance art from the continent, and Agusto's 'surrealist' drawings speak of hybrid identities and personal histories. Amber Robles-Gordon 's complex and highly introspective collage pieces were as a result of the artist's recent visits to Puerto Rican homeland, and finally, Miami based, French-Caribbean artist, Marielle Plaisir, explores issues around complex US racial politics through lyrically abstracted portraits of black activists' personalities.
