ALMA ZEVI was founded in Venice, in 2016. The gallery’s mission is to provide a dynamic platform for both international emerging and established artists. The gallery regularly hosts artist residencies where new bodies of work are produced in response to the city’s unique cultural heritage. Central to the gallery’s ethos is the artist residency and project space that Alma founded in the mountain village of Celerina, Switzerland in 2013. In January 2019, the gallery opened an outpost of the gallery in Mayfair at the centre of London’s gallery district.     Group show curated by Freddie Powell featuring works by Rebecca Ackroyd, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Adam Charlap Hyman, Charlotte Edey, Christopher P. Green, Esme Hodsoll, Andrew Huston, David Murphy, Jack Otway, Rade Petrasevic, Sofia Stevi, Katy Stubbs and Tom Worsfold. As an incantation, Abracadabra is a word used to trigger a magical effect on a subject. The popularity of which has now been relegated to simple tricks in magic shows. It had previously been a word of healing and for invoking protection against affliction and disease. This exhibition presents a selection of works on paper through which to explore the potential and multitudes of magical thinking and beyond.
